Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer

Generally I am very skeptical of celebrity brands (although for some embarrassing reason I find Jessica Simpson shoes amazing).  More often than not, celebrity brands are just financial deal where a  celeb lends their name to a product in exchange for a portion of sales.  Most products are not tested, vetted, or used by the celebs themselves (if Kim Kardashian actually used Quick Trim by Kim, “Keeping up with the Kardashians” would have been filmed in a bathroom).

When I heard that Josie Maran was launching her own line of cosmetics, I responded with a figurative eye roll.  I was wrong.  I learned that her cosmetic line was born out of her desire for high quality and luxurious makeup and skin care that was also made from natural and eco-friendly ingredients.  I checked out her site, and I was extremely impressed.  The brand uses some really great ingredients, and it has that same beautiful feel and packaging as the higher end department store brand.  Not bad for a former Maybelline girl.

After reading about argan oil and all of its benefits, I decided to try the Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 40+:

Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer, $32

I have a few requirements for a daily moisturizer:

1.  Smells nice
2. At least SPF15 that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.
3. Light and non-greasy
4. Actually moisturizes
5. No bad ingredients

The Verdict: Amazing

It’s light, gentle, smooth, and smells great.  It moisturized my skin without leaving any greasy residue, and all the heavy-duty chemicals like parabens and fragrances are missing in its formulation.  I’ve been using the moisturizer for a few weeks now and my skin looks radiant and is breakout free.  At $32, I consider this a splurge, but it’s a splurge I can rationalize it quite easily:  Hey – I only have one face.
